Safeguarding

At Lyng Hall School we are dedicated to ensuring that all our young people feel safe and are able to access an educational environment in which they can thrive.  All staff have regular safeguarding training and are confident in identifying and raising any concerns they may have.   We also have key designated staff who are responsible for dealing with safeguarding and students are aware of who these are (see below).

We have a Child Protection and Safeguarding policy, updated annually in line with Keeping Children Safe In Education, and a staff code of conduct.  In addition, all staff are thoroughly vetted as part of their recruitment process.

We have a very experienced and trained team of staff who oversee safeguarding in school.

We work closely with other agencies/shareholders and support links with the police like Operation Encompass and have just introduced Smoothwall Pulse, an app that allows children to link with a member of staff of their choice if they need additional support; it also allows them to tell us how they are feeling and send positive social media messages.

Operation Encompass

Operation Encompass is an initiative aimed at safeguarding children and involves collaborative work between the local police and the school.  The police report the names of any pupils who have been exposed to, or involved in, any domestic incidents that they have been called out to.  This information is passed to the school’s Designated Safeguarding lead each time there is an incident which involves one of our students.

The information is used in complete confidence and allows us to ensure we make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families who have been involved in, or exposed to, a serious domestic incident.

We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils and we believe this collaborative work will be extremely beneficial.
